The Louis Vuitton Papillon was designed by Henri Racamier, the husband of Louis Vuitton's great-granddaughter. Racamier launched the bag in 1966 and it has been popular ever since. The French word "Papillon" means butterfly. The design of the bag is said to be inspired by a butterfly. The shape of the bag is round, representing the body of a butterfly, while the handles resemble wings. This bag closes with a zipper and on the inside you will find a dark brown leather lining. The inside of the Papillon bag has no extra compartment, it is only one spacious compartment. The leather handles are the perfect length to carry it as a handbag. The Papillon comes with the mini Papillon bag.
