The Celine 16 is created in 2018 in Los Angeles as a tribute to Celines Paris Atelier at 16 Rue Vivienne. The bag was inspired by house designs from the 1960s, which is evident in the trapezoidal silhouette and discreet hardware. The 16 was the very first bag designed by Hedi Slimane and was a precursor to the Celine look. The 16 bag encapsulates the style of the maison and demonstrates the commitment to exceptional craftsmanship. It is crafted in natural calfskin in tan and finished with gold hardware. The 16 can be worn by hand, on the shoulder or crossbody. It has a turn lock closure, two main compartments, one inner flat pocket, one inner zipped pocket and one outer flat pocket on the front under the flap. The shoulder strap is detachable but not adjustable.
